Scholastic Activities

At Asian International Residential School (CBSE), scholastic activities form the backbone of our academic framework. We follow a structured and comprehensive system of evaluation and continuous assessment, as prescribed by the CBSE. Our focus is to promote academic excellence through regular testing, personalized feedback, and targeted improvement.

Classes IX & X – Assessment Structure

The academic assessment is designed to evaluate both knowledge and application skills, as well as consistency and effort. The evaluation is conducted in two components:

Board Examination – 80 Marks

  • Conducted by CBSE at the end of the academic year.
  • Covers 100% syllabus of each subject.
  • Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks out of 80 to qualify.
  • 9-point grading scale is followed as per CBSE norms.

Subjects Evaluated

  • Languages: English, Tamil/Hindi
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Science

Purpose of Scholastic Assessment

  • Identifies learning gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Encourages self-study, time-bound preparation, and consistency.
  • Trains students for competitive exams and future academic challenges.
  • Builds confidence and a positive academic mindset.

Our scholastic activity system ensures that students not only excel in examinations but also develop strong academic habits, critical thinking, and effective study practices. We nurture responsible learners who are committed to lifelong academic growth.

Internal Assessment – 20 Marks

Students must secure a minimum of 33% in internal components as well.

Internal assessment includes:

Periodic Tests – 10 Marks
  • Three tests per subject are conducted during the academic year.
  • Average of the best two tests is considered for final evaluation.
  • Focus on conceptual understanding, accuracy, and time management.
Notebook Submission – 5 Marks
  • Regularity in submission, neatness, and organization of notebooks.
  • Reflects discipline, sincerity, and accountability.
Subject Enrichment Activities – 5 Marks
  • Includes oral presentations, lab work, creative assignments, reading sessions, etc.
  • Tailored to each subject for holistic assessment.
